Widgy Start is a modern browser start page and personal command center built as a local-first web application. The goal was to create a flexible dashboard that users can fully shape around their own workflow instead of being locked into a fixed layout.

The application uses a freeform widget canvas where users can place, move, resize, duplicate, hide and organize widgets exactly where they want them. A visible edit mode shows the layout raster and controls, while the normal view stays clean for daily use. Widgy also supports multiple separate canvases, allowing users to create different cockpits for work, business, development, finance, smart home or personal productivity.

The platform includes a widget store with free local widgets and premium/API-ready widget previews. Examples include notes, todos, smart links, weather, RSS/news, clocks, focus tools, countdowns, calculators, JSON tools, password tools, stock and crypto widgets, website monitoring previews, AI briefing previews and Home Assistant concepts.

The project was built with HTML, CSS, vanilla JavaScript and lightweight PHP proxy endpoints for external APIs. User layouts and settings are stored locally in the browser, making the experience fast, private and easy to use without requiring an account. The PWA setup includes a web manifest, app icons and service worker support, preparing Widgy for installation as a standalone app.
